A SON AND HEIR

One of the things that plague many Christians today is their inadequate understanding of their status. A limited understanding and embracing of biblical truth as reality.

Are you aware of who you are in Christ?

Do you understand your position in Him?

Having this understanding can transform you from living an ordinary life to an extraordinary one. It will move you to operate in the supernatural.

Let’s read the scripture below closely:

“But when the fulness of the time was come, God sent forth his Son, made of a woman, made under the law. To redeem them that were under the law, that we might receive the adoption of sons. And because ye are sons, God hath sent forth the Spirit of his Son into your hearts, crying, Abba, Father. Wherefore thou art no more a servant, but a son; and if a son, then an heir of God through Christ.” – Galatians 4: 4-7

The writer, Apostle Paul, confirms that at an appointed time, Jesus came into the world to change the narrative of humanity. He came under the Law (as given by Moses) to redeem people from the law.

To be redeemed from the law is simply to be bought away from its subjections and adjudications.

It’s like buying a beautiful diamond ring that is subject to live just in a box for display, and to give it a new role of being displayed on a finger to be moved around to show forth its glory everywhere.

Jesus’ death brought about your liberation from the law and established you into a new life. This new life made you a son of the living God. An elevated position that confers a right of heirship on you.

At the time this was written, the Roman culture paid attention to assigning heirship to the responsible male child who could preserve the name and wealth of the family. Such a child was adopted into that position at a declaration for all to see and know that he was the heir.

That scripture should be looked at beyond gender bias, instead, attention should be on the role and the privilege it confers. This means that whether male or female you have been adopted as a son of God.

As a son of God, you also received the Spirit of God that endears a relationship with God. The Spirit within you yearns for intimacy with the Father—the living God. There are no more barriers to you relating and communicating with God. As a son, you can freely approach him like a three-year-old who is unconcerned about protocols and calls for his father irrespective of his father’s engagement.

I have a young boy who has taught me this. He doesn’t care if you are busy, he just comes in to express what is pertinent to him at the time, and this could even be a need to hug or be hugged.

A son is different from a servant in many ways. A servant is deprived of the right to free expression.

You have that has a son.

A servant is unqualified for a claim of inheritance, but a son is.

A son is an heir to a father which confers certain rights on him.  An heir can act on behalf of his father. An heir is as good as the father because, upon the demise of the father, he steps into his father’s shoes.

You are an heir of the living God through Christ. There are certain rights conferred on you as an heir that you should be aware of.  As an heir of God, you have been established beyond the normal and natural person you used to be. In Christ Jesus, you became new and connected to a new order of life. This is a spiritual order and God (your father) is absolute in this realm. He poured out His spirit upon you to qualify you to be a part of it.

I charge you my friend to rise each day as an adopted son. I encourage you dearly loved to begin each hour with the authority of an heir of God. I prompt you to maximize every minute of your day in the consciousness of the Spirit that lives in you.

This is what your belief in Jesus Christ affords you.

If you have not accepted Jesus as your saviour, now is the time of salvation. Believe in Him and be saved, then you can enjoy the beauty and joy of being a son and an heir of God.

Jesus loves you so much. That’s why He died for you. He gave his life for your life. He paid to set you free from the shackles of sin and death so that you can have eternal life.
